Description:

Jojoba is a shrub native to South-western North America. It is resistant to droughts and grown for its jojoba oil a golden yellow liquid that comes from the seeds.

It may seem like your average emollient plant oil, but dig deeper and it is really special and unique. Its not an oil but rather a wax ester.

What is a wax ester and why is it important? First, jojoba oil is extremely stable, even if you heat it to 370 C or 698 F for 96 hours. Second, jojoba oil is the most similar to human sebun, so it might have skin balancing properties for oily skin. Third, jojoba oil moisturizes the skin through a unique double action: on one hand it mixes with sebum an forms a thin, non-greasy, semi-occlusive layer and on the other hand it absorbs into the skin through pores and hair follicles then diffuses into the intercellular spaces of the outer layer of the skin to make it soft and supple.

Benefits:

Jojoba oil is a potent moisturizer due to its ability to act just like skin's natural oils to balance the body oils. Strong antioxidant, helps reduce inflammation and speed up cell regeneration. Reduces acne by controlling oil production and preventing bacteria growth.
